New Jersey municipalities are now officially required to support electronic submissions from the public.
With the passage and signing of New Jersey Bill A5593/S4157 (2024–2025 session), the Department of Community Affairs is required to allow Electronic Permitting, modernizing how applications and documents are submitted and processed. The bill has passed both houses and was signed into law by Governor Murphy on Monday, January 12, 2026.
We’ve been excited to see many of our New Jersey clients already take this step by transitioning to FastTrackGov online services. From some of the state’s smallest municipalities to the largest, including the City of Newark, the shift to digital services has been incredibly rewarding, not only for our clients, but personally as well.
Having worked with New Jersey communities since 2003, it’s especially meaningful to see both longtime and new partners embrace modern, online solutions. Just over a year ago, this journey began with the resolution endorsed by MEIA at the NJLM Conference in November 2024. Seeing that effort now become law is a milestone moment for municipalities across the state.
Have you taken the next step toward providing compliant, user-friendly online services for your community?
We invite you to schedule a brief demo to see how FastTrackGov makes it easy to support electronic permitting while improving efficiency for staff, contractors, and residents.
